Antipropagandism is the second entry in a series of works which began with 2022’s Samhain, consisting of long form pieces each focused on a particular theme. This is my most overtly political work since Automata, with waves of noise and low-frequency rumbling complimented by a series of field recordings from around Europe providing an unsettling sonic palette exploring religion, climate, politics and culture. It is a cyclical soundscape driven by a constant, anxious pulse from beginning to end to beginning again, an infinite loop of anger and self-destruction.

This piece addresses an irrepressible rage at the current state of the world and a yearning to make a statement that goes beyond simply the metamodernist subtext of my other work. It is a direct response to the unashamed propaganda that has thoroughly embedded itself in public consciousness, something which has never been easier with primitive algorithms putting years of revisionism, populism and imperialist dogma to shame. From bothsidesism to blatant fallacy, alternative truth has become so intrinsically normalised in daily life transcending all ideology be it neocolonialism, faux-progressivism or pseudo-centrist elitism. This is a response not only to the rampant imperialist Anglophilia still corrupting Ireland but the growing fascist supremacism across Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

Welcome to the Age of Contradiction. As we approach the middle of another decade, nothing has changed yet everything has changed. Things have never been better yet never been worse. People crave progress yet fear it most, happily allowing the world to rot around them in the age-old cycle of self-destruction. Each step forward is met with equal steps back.
